Coldfang89 is the pen name of Andrew Kluttz, a LitRPG and Progression Fantasy author. Going by either Coldfang or Andrew, he lives in rural Oklahoma with his wife, daughter, and their many animals. These include shelties, corgis, a german shepherd along with a couple of holland lop rabbits and a few guinea pigs.

Starting out as a reader in the newly established LitRPG genre, he was drawn in by Life Reset, Mayor of Noobtown, Primal Hunter, Defiance of the Fall, and He Who Fights with Monsters. Back when the genre was still very small and growing, there were often large periods of time between new book releases. Frustrated and wanting more content, Coldfang decided to write his own story in his favorite subgenre, System Apocalypse.

Expecting nothing other than creating his own entertainment, he began posting on Royal Road and much to his surprise, his story, originally titled “Humanity’s Last Chance: Rise of the First Necromancer, blew up and quickly generated interest with publishers. With zero background in writing and a limited education, Coldfang realized that the best path forward was to work with a publisher that would invest in teaching him how to become a better writer. Soon, First Necromancer was signed with Portal Books and would become his stepping stone to becoming a full-time author.

First Necromancer still remains close to his heart, but Coldfang has a couple of other projects that he’s currently working on as well, including Void Warlock that will be published via Aethon Books.

As for Coldfang’s personal life, he enjoys science and technology, especially information related to theoretical physics and astronomy. He’s also a firearm enthusiast, mostly for sport and not for hunting, and he occasionally enjoys playing video games. When he was younger he was very into all the large MMO’s, including WoW, Eve, Aion, Guild Wars, and more. Now that he’s a full-time author with a family he prefers more casual games or ones that he can play with friends and fans. These include Stellaris, simulation games, co-op survival or extraction games, and beer and pretzel games like Graveyard Keeper and Keeper RL.
